Rachel Green from the all-time favourite, classic show F.R.I.E.N.D.S has been a fashion icon since the show came out. The clothes she wore were so classic and timeless, that a lot of those outfits can still be worn today. We are always advocating for classic, timeless (and high quality!) pieces because those can be worn for years and are therefore a significantly more ethical, sustainable choice to make.
Here are 10 of Rachel Green’s looks, that are built on basic pieces, but look absolutely classy, comfy and cute.
A white sweater with a pair of blue jeans
There’s nothing like a well-fitted sweater that flatters your body. The blue and white combo, I truly find to be one of the classiest ones out there. Even styled with minimal jewellery, this look is one that is sure to look great. You could wear this to the office, if your workplace is casual, to the airport, for a weeknight dinner & drinks situation or for even for a movie date!

A scooped-out t-shirt, with a classic black miniskirt
This blue-grey tee, paired with a structured black miniskirt is another great outfit. This would be a perfect outfit for a coffee date or if you’re hosting some friends over for dinner.

This white shirt, with a tan/ camel skirt
This is honestly, a perfect work outfit. Depending on how conservative your office is, you could pick a longer skirt but white and camel look incredibly classy and gives old money aesthetic. If you’re not into skirts, you could always do this same colour combination with a pair of tailored trousers.

This black blouse with blue jeans
It’s honestly INSANE, that this outfit was styled 20 years ago. One could wear this to 100 different types of events even today. I would wear this out for dinner with my colleagues or friends, on a short-haul flight, on a casual day at work, or on a Sunday out at the mall ….. This list could go on and on forever. I love the neckline, and structure.

This super classy combination of browns
I think brown is extremely classy, and it looks good on a lot of skin tones. With beige, tan, camel, and sand all falling in the same family- I find that there is so much to play around with. This look is from one of the earliest seasons of friends, I love the loose high-waisted greige trousers, the deep brown tank and the cosy dark cardigan. 10/10 would wear.

While nothing in the show was mentioned about Rachel wanting to be sustainable, there are several references to her wearing high-quality pieces and looking for high-quality fabrics. To be sustainable, is to be picky with the fabrics and be staple with your colours. Build a wardrobe you love, with colours that can be interchanged and see how your neutral, basic wardrobe creates a massive impact.
